Terrazzo, a composite material made of marble chips embedded in cement, was invented in Italy in the 16th century as a means of recycling leftover stone. Either prefabricated into blocks that can be cut to size or manually poured on location. It is also available as ready-made tiles that may be applied right away to walls and floors.
Terrazzo will often outlast any building construction, as seen by structures erected over a century ago. A poured-in-place epoxy terrazzo system has a lifespan of 40 to 100 years, and can survive much longer with careful care.
Terrazzo is an excellent choice for bathrooms. Terrazzo tiles are no longer just for flooring; they also look great on worktops, backsplashes, and walls.
Terrazzo and terrazzo appearance tile has grown in popularity in recent years, transitioning from mostly commercial to residential buildings. According to Michael, terrazzo is here to stay in 2022, and we'll see it in earthy tones, beige, and ivory with bigger particles of marble.
